John James “Jimbo” Fisher is a native of Clarksburg, West Virginia, and is the new head for the Florida State University Seminoles football team. As a former player himself, Jimbo Fisher knows what it takes to succeed in the sport of football and is ready to bring his team to victory.
Jimbo Fisher attended Salem College in West Virginia before transferring his last year to Samford University, following his head coach Terry Bowden. As a senior student at Samford University, Fisher was the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year. Fisher still holds multiple school records at Samford University to this day. Upon graduation, Fisher played a season in the Arena Football League in 1988, before rejoining Coach Terry Bowden at Samford as a graduate assistant coach for two years. Jimbo Fisher followed Terry Bowden once again, when he transferred to Auburn University where they turned out several successful players.
Fisher would fly solo to coach LSU where he helped to develop a number of incredibly talented quarterbacks, before moving to the Florida State Seminoles. Eventually, 2010, Jimbo Fisher was chosen to take over as head coach for Florida State University. Legendary Bobby Bowden had coached the Florida State Seminoles for 34 years and had retired on New Year’s Day 2010, after 28 consecutive years attending bowl game. On January 5, 2010, Jimbo Fisher became only the ninth head football coach in Florida State History.
As one of the top offensive minds in college football, Jimbo Fisher is sure to bring the heat on any opponent. Coach Fisher has had much success over the seasons in coaching his players and he, along with Assistant Head Coach James Cooley and Coach Mark Stoops, expects great things in the years to come.
